Who we are

ShopSEOis a search optimization app for Shopify merchants, operated by Curious Objects (“ShopSEO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to our marketing website and to the ShopSEO application you install on your Shopify store. It does not cover Shopify itself or any third-party site we link to, each of which has its own policies.

Information we collect

Store and account information. When you install ShopSEO, Shopify provides basic details about your store, such as your store name, primary domain, store URL, plan, timezone, and the contact email associated with the account.

Store content we audit.To find and fix SEO issues, we access store content through Shopify’s APIs. This includes products, collections, pages, blog posts, URLs and redirects, sitemaps, images and their alt text, and the metadata and structured data attached to them. We use this content only to run audits and apply the changes you approve.

Information you provide. If you contact us for support or feedback, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you use our website or app, we may collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and diagnostic logs. This helps us keep the service secure and working reliably.

How we use information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the ShopSEO service;
• To audit your store, generate recommendations, and apply the fixes you approve;
• To respond to your requests and provide support;
• To monitor performance, diagnose problems, and improve the service;
• To detect, prevent, and address security incidents, abuse, or fraud;

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your store content for advertising or to train unrelated products.

Legal bases for processing

Your store’s customers

ShopSEO is designed to work with your catalog and site structure, not your shoppers. We do not need or intentionally collect the personal information of your customers, such as their names, addresses, orders, or payment details.

How we share information

We share information only in limited circumstances: with trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, such as cloud hosting, error monitoring, and email delivery; when required by law or to respond to valid legal requests; to protect the rights, safety, and property of ShopSEO, our users, or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.

Shopify

ShopSEOis built on Shopify and operates in accordance with Shopify’s API terms and data protection requirements. Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify’s own privacy policy.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses only the cookies necessary for it to function and, where applicable, privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you uninstall ShopSEO, we delete or anonymize the associated store content within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.

Data security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data.

International data transfers
